How to Win the Champions League
The UEFA Champions League is fully licensed in FM27, with SI's new rules for its draw and fixtures, and winning it comes down to a deep squad you rotate, managed workload and in-match changes. No FM27-specific Champions League guide or tested tactic exists as of Nov 1, 2026.
To win the Champions League in FM27, build a squad deep enough to rotate through league, cup and European weeks, manage your players' workload, and use FM27's Tactical Tweaks to change games from the touchline. The competition is fully licensed: SI's Football Manager 27 license list names the UEFA Champions League with the Women's Champions League, Europa League, Conference League, Super Cup and Youth League, and FM27 adds the Champions League draw system to its fixture rules. No FM27-specific Champions League guide from SI or the FM sites exists as of Nov 1, 2026, so the squad advice below comes from named Football Manager 26 guides, labeled as such, and will be checked after the Nov 10, 2026 release.

Is the Champions League in FM27?
Yes. The UEFA club competitions have been fully licensed since Football Manager 2023, and SI's Oct 28, 2026 license list for FM27 keeps all six UEFA club competitions. SI's Oct 16 reveal lists Champions League fixes among its scheduling changes: the same-nation and draw rules, and no three straight home or away games in UEFA club competitions. Cup Draws also return in FM27 as a presenter-hosted draw where you can draw team by team or skip ahead. See Leagues and Licenses and Continue Flow and the Football World.
Build a squad that can rotate
European weeks double the fixtures. SI's FM27 first-hours guide points to the Squad Planner and Team Report, where a low star count means thin cover in a position, as the place to see where you need depth. In Football Manager 26, FM Scout's first-season guide advised fixing gaps such as a single striker first, rotating even when results are good, resting players below 85% condition and resting key players against weaker opponents. Passion4FM's FM26 tips suggest saving a first and second team selection to rotate by opponent and importance, and a day's rest for starters after each match.
For signings that add depth without a big fee, see How to Sign Players Cheaply, Free Agents and Bargain Players.
Manage the workload
FM27's training shows player load for the coming week and the weeks beyond, not just the next fixture, which helps plan around a midweek European game. Senior training now centers on preparing for the next match, and Tactical Effectiveness includes Next Match Information, so preparation for a big night shows up in how well the team plays the plan. In Football Manager 26, Passion4FM advised balancing game time and training for players whose injury Risk Assessment reads High or Very High. See Training and Injuries and Concussion Protocol.
Change the game from the touchline
Knockout ties turn on moments. FM27's Tactical Tweaks let you play with more urgency, go longer, exploit width or reduce the press without opening the Tactics screen, and dugout staff report the opponent's changes and advise when to start or stop a tweak. There is also a button to send your goalkeeper up for a late set piece. See Tactical Tweaks and Shouts.
Which tactic wins the Champions League in FM27?
None is proven. The top tactic on FM Scout's FM27 index, "AsderBey 4-2-3-1 Tiki-Taka", claims a Champions League win, beating Real Madrid in the final, but that is the creator's own claim from a Launch Preview save, without the club or build named, and testers report mixed results. A tactic also has to suit your squad's Tactical Effectiveness. See Best Tactics and Best Formations, and for which clubs start strong enough to compete, Best Teams to Manage.
