Continue Flow and the Football World

In FM27, Continue Flow sets how often the game stops (Streamlined, Balanced, Comprehensive or Custom) and Continue now takes you through different game areas instead of the News feed; Cup Draws return with a hosted draw, news is split from For You, and 14 fixture-scheduling rules are fixed.

Continue Flow is Football Manager 27's setting for how often the game stops between matches: you pick Streamlined (fewer breaks), Balanced, Comprehensive or Custom when you start your first career and can change it later in Preferences. Pressing Continue also no longer drops you back on the News feed each time; it takes you to different key areas of the game. Around it, Sports Interactive rebuilt the wider world: Cup Draws return with a hosted draw, news is split into For You, transfer news and world football, club and competition screens show more, and 14 fixture-scheduling rules that Football Manager 26 got wrong are fixed. Everything here is from SI's reveals of development builds before the Nov 10, 2026 release. The clip is SI's Oct 22, 2026 First Look Livestream, played on a pre-launch build.

How does Continue Flow work in FM27?

Continue Flow is offered when you begin your first career. The three presets trade speed for detail: Streamlined stops least, Comprehensive gives the most insight and information, and Balanced sits between. Custom lets you set how often the game stops for messages, and how often you see results, fixtures or news. A separate Continue button setting decides whether Continue steps through your messages or carries on with unread messages left behind. All of it can be changed later in Preferences. The clip is WorkTheSpace's Oct 30, 2026 beginner's guide, which recommends Streamlined for a first save.

SEGA's Oct 21, 2026 announcement named Continue Flow customization among FM27's headline additions, beside Tactical Tweaks and Tactical Effectiveness. FM Scout reports you can also set how often Continue takes you to the Transfer Hub, separately for open and closed windows. How much Continue Flow shortens a season is on How Long Does a Season Take.

Where does Continue take you?

In Football Manager 26, Continue returned to the News feed. In FM27, SI says "instead of returning to the News feed each time, you'll be taken to different key game areas". Your next task, such as a draw, now comes to you as a screen rather than only as a message. The clip is SI's Sep 25, 2026 deep dive, over development-build footage.

Are Cup Draws back in FM27?

Yes. Cup Draws are back in a familiar format: a message leads to a draw hosted by a presenter, and you can draw the next team, draw everyone at once, or speed up the automatic draw. SI says managers of lower-league teams can follow the drama while hoping to draw a big team. Cup Draws were missing from Football Manager 26, per FM Scout.

News

Football Manager 26's "For You" system filled the whole News menu. FM27 separates For You from transfer news and world football news, and news screens were redesigned, with stories often shown inside messages. The season brings more stories: club season previews, mid-season check-ins, job speculation and title run-in previews, plus messages from the press officer and job rumors. The Transfers screen leads with the top rumors and done deals.

Monthly reports go deeper on finances, loan players, and the board's and supporters' ratings; a season-end awards message names the top performers; and the NXGN 50 list of 50 wonderkids appears in the message body, per SI. FM Scout reports SI said the end-of-season review is not currently set to return.

Club, competition and nation screens

Club screens show identity, history, the manager, top scorers, key performers, latest transfers and news. Competition screens show results, fixtures, key people, current holders, statistical leaders and the Team of the Week, and a new Competitions Hub gives a snapshot of every league loaded in the save; FM Scout says SI compared it to the old "Around the World" view. Nation screens were redesigned to be "more familiar."

Fixture rules

SI fixed 14 fixture-scheduling rules it called "outstanding issues that weren't addressed in updates for FM26". Among them:

  • The UEFA Champions League draw, with its same-nation and group rules.
  • No three straight home or away games in Asian and UEFA club competitions.
  • English clubs from the same city not at home on the same day, and EFL Trophy fixtures.
  • Bundesliga mirrored schedules and TV slot selection.
  • MLS back-to-back games, Norwegian B teams and Portuguese derbies.
  • No Friday South American continental fixtures, and Turkish clubs in Europe.

How the Champions League plays out is on How to Win the Champions League.

The wider world

FM27 has more than 18 million database changes and 1,500 competition updates. Rule changes include restructured leagues in Northern Ireland and Wales, new cups in Chile and Peru, updated North American and African qualifying and continental competitions, and Swiss-style formats for the women's league cups in England, France and Japan. The Daylight Offside rule, trialed in the Canadian Premier League, is in the game and can be switched on or off in the Pre-Game Editor. Which leagues are playable and licensed is on Leagues and Licenses.

What is not known

As of Nov 1, 2026: whether Continue Flow's presets differ on FM27 Console or FM27 Mobile, whether press conferences changed, and whether the "Around The World" option FM Scout saw in build settings is a feature or a leftover.
