Football Manager Games in Order
Sports Interactive has released 21 Football Manager games in order from Football Manager 2005 (Nov 2004) to Football Manager 26 (Nov 4, 2025), and FM27 is the 22nd, out Nov 10, 2026. Football Manager 25 was canceled in Feb 2025, so no game came out that season.
The Football Manager series runs from Football Manager 2005, released across Europe on Nov 5, 2004, to Football Manager 27, out Nov 10, 2026: one game a year for 20 years, then a gap when Football Manager 25 was canceled on Feb 7, 2025, then Football Manager 26 in Nov 2025. Every game is made by Sports Interactive and published by SEGA. Before 2004 the same studio made Championship Manager, whose name stayed with Eidos when the two parted.

Dates are the European PC date where one is published, else Metacritic's date; "(US)" marks a North American date. Metascores are Metacritic's PC scores; Metacritic lists the 2005 to 2009 games under their North American name, Worldwide Soccer Manager. Sources: the Metacritic page of each game, Nov 1, 2026 (2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 26); features from PCGamesN, Feb 12, 2017, GameWatcher, PC Gamer, bit-tech and the Steam pages of 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 26; platforms of 2006 from Worthplaying, of 2024 from SEGA, of 25 from SEGA, of 26 from Football Manager.
Why the names changed from years to numbers
Each game was named for the season after its release (Football Manager 2024 came out in Nov 2023) until the planned Football Manager 25, announced on Sep 30, 2024, dropped the "20". The numbered style stayed: Football Manager 26 and then FM27, which SI calls "Football Manager 27", never "Football Manager 2027". Older games keep their own names on store pages, so "Football Manager 2024" and "Football Manager 26" are both correct.
The gap: Football Manager 25
Football Manager 25 was meant to be the first game on the Unity engine and to bring women's football and the Premier League. It was delayed to March 2025 on Oct 10, 2024, then canceled on Feb 7, 2025 with every pre-order refunded. PC Gamer noted the games had come out every year "like clockwork since 2004", so the 2024/25 season was the first without a new one. Football Manager 2024 stayed on sale until Football Manager 26 replaced it. The full story is on Football Manager 25.
The engine changes
Three changes split the series into eras. Football Manager 2009 brought the first 3D match engine, after Championship Manager 4 (2003) had brought the first 2D one. Football Manager 2024 was the last game on SI's old engine. Football Manager 26 was "the first of our games made with Unity", and FM27 is the second. That is why saves from FM26 and FM24 matter: FM27 offers to carry over progress from the previous two titles, covered on Save Carry Over.
The best-reviewed and the worst-reviewed
On Metacritic's PC scores, read on Nov 1, 2026, the best-reviewed game is still the first: Worldwide Soccer Manager 2005 (Football Manager 2005) at 89 from 18 reviews. The annual games stayed between 80 and 87 from 2007 to 2024. Football Manager 26 sits at 68 from 44 reviews, the lowest of any PC game in the series, which is why SI let anyone play FM27 for free before release (Free Trial and Launch Preview). FM27 has no score yet; see Previews and Reception.
Consoles, phones and tablets
Football Manager left PC only early: Football Manager 2006 reached Xbox 360 and the PSP as the first games of the SEGA era. iOS versions appear on Metacritic from Football Manager 2010, Switch from 2022 and PlayStation 5 from 2023. Since Football Manager 2024 each year comes in four forms: the full PC/Mac game, a Console edition, Touch on Apple Arcade and Mobile on Netflix. FM27 keeps all four but has no Switch version; the platforms are on Platforms.
