Because Football Manager 25 was canceled, it was the current game for two seasons, and after Football Manager 26's rough launch many players kept playing it. Football Manager 2024 came out on Nov 6, 2023 on PC and Mac (Steam, Epic, Xbox Game Pass, the Microsoft Store), Console (Xbox, PS5), Touch (Apple Arcade, Nintendo Switch) and Mobile (Netflix only). SEGA said it was the most pre-ordered game in series history, with more than 10 million matches played in Early Access before launch. SEGA Japan dated it Nov 7, 2023 worldwide. SEGA called it the 20th release in the series, with a database of more than 800,000 active players and staff.

Features

Steam lists its headline additions as the Inverted Full-Back role, an overhauled Set Piece Creator with Set Piece Coaches, career import from Football Manager 2023 and the J. League (J1, J2, J3) licensed for the first time. It was the last game before Football Manager 26 moved the series to Unity with a redesigned interface.

Reception and records

Critics gave it a Metascore of 84 from 43 reviews, and Steam players rate it Very Positive. SEGA said on Feb 15, 2024 it had passed 7 million players in under 100 days, beating Football Manager 2023's lifetime 6.88 million, and by Sep 30, 2024 it had more than 14 million.

Why many players stayed on Football Manager 2024

First, with Football Manager 25 canceled, it stayed on sale and on Apple Arcade, Game Pass, Netflix and PlayStation Plus until a successor arrived, though SI made no 2024/25 data update. Second, Football Manager 26 disappointed: Game Rant, on OpenCritic, contrasted Football Manager 2024's "Very Positive" Steam reviews with FM26's 22%. SI's own developer Antony Farley told FourFourTwo the FM27 free period was aimed at newcomers and players still on FM26 or FM24.

Can you still buy Football Manager 2024?

No. It left digital stores when its license agreements ended around Football Manager 26's launch in Nov 2025. Owners can keep playing it.
